By popular demand, a workshop which will deal exclusively with learning how to judge or how to improve your judging skills will be held this September. The seminar is directed toward those who wish to be judges and to those who are just thinking about it. It will also be an important refresher course for current judges.

Steve Traudt: HDR
2009 Fall Chapter Day

A packed house attended Fall Chapter day and heard Steve Traudt of Colorado demystify the exciting new branch of photography called HDR (high dynamic range). This amazing process allows you to record formerly impossible scenes. By taking a series of exposures and blending them with special HDR software, you are able to maintain detail in both shadow and highlight areas. The process can create many flavors of HDR from subtle to dramatic.

The discussion included a review of various methods of using HDR such as panoramas; hand-held; black/white; infrared, multiple tone mapping and single RAW HDR. Steve also demonstrated the use of Photomatix Pro software

Dick Stahlke: Slide Shows using ProShow
2009 Fall Chapter Day

Also during the 2009 Fall Chapter Day, Dick Stahlke provided an extremely entertaining and informative discussion on creating slide shows synchronized to music using an option that takes a slide show to an entirely new level. Whether it be travel, nature, pictorial or any other subject or photographic style, images can be combined with music, special effects and a variety of transitions to create really impactful programs. Most even have the option of incorporating video clips. Dick presented and discussed a workflow for developing such programs and demonstrated with software the actual preparation of a short show. Samples of completed shows provided some beautiful examples.
